Finish reading “Oedipus Rex” by Tuesday.  We will go over the Close Reading questions on Tuesday.  Remember that your Dr. Suess rendition of “Oedipus Rex” is due next week.

Next week begins the HPSE testing.  If you are not required to take the test, you do not need to be at school until 11:00.  3rd period starts at 11:02.  The EWU 170 class will meet Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  We will not meet on Wednesday because of the testing schedule.

You should be finished with To Kill a Mockingbird and taking any of the quizzes you have missed.  Next week we will watch the movie version of To Kill a Mockingbird.  The test and the project for TKAMB will be due March 22nd.  Remember, you have the option of taking the test or doing the project.  You may also complete both and then the project will be counted as extra credit.

We will be watching “Apocalypse Now” this week.  This would also be a good time to catch up on any Heart of Darkness assignments you have not yet completed.

Continue reading To Kill a Mockingbird. You should be through chapter 18 by tomorrow.  There will be quiz tomorrow over Ch. 16 – 18.

Sorry that I have been unable to post or update the website this past week, but my four-year old son has been home sick with a terrible bout of pneumonia.  He is on the mend, however, and I should have everything updated this week (including lesson plans and grades).  Thanks for your patience!

ENGLISH ONE:  You should be at least to Chapter Nine in To Kill a Mockingbird. Please be sure you are reading at home as well as in class. Complete your vocabulary, reading response journal and find at least one quote per reading response.  The quote should be a “life lesson” not just any random quote.

EWU 170:  Continue reading Heart of Darkness.  You should be done with the Web Quest and Critical Critique.  Today we discussed Part II.  Tomorrow there will be a quiz over Part II.  We will then discuss Part III and go over your quotes and questions.  There will be a quiz Thursday over Part III.  Also, I moved the Literary Terms #6 due date to Februrary 22nd.  Hang in there – only about three months of your senior year of high school left!
