Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. I hope that you all had a great summer and are ready to tackle another year of English. This year, I hope to utilize more of this website and Google Docs to cut down on the number of paper copies we use and also to give you a chance to work on course assignments on your own and at your own pace. Bear with me as I navigate the technology! Course work in this class will include plenty of reading (novels, short stories, and poetry) and writing of essays (narrative, expository, personal response). We will tackle vocabulary and grammar within the context of reading and writing. You will also learn how to conduct effective research, utilize the library and share information with your peers. Within this website, you will find my course syllabus, classroom expectations and various assignments. I will update the site to reflect what we are doing currently in the classroom. I look forward to our year together!

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! I hope you had a fabulous summer, but still found time to tackle the Poisonwood Bible! My hope for this year is to utilize more of Google Docs, this website and the EWU Blackboard website to share information, complete assignments and have discussions about many of the unique and interesting texts we will read. First semester we will work on how to read and discuss literature as well as how to write a well-constructed literary response to what you have read. Second semester will be the EWU syllabus work, but we will spread the reading, writing and discussions out across the entire semester. On this website you will find the course syllabus and expectations, assigments and discussion board. I will update the site periodically to reflect what we are doing in the classroom. I hope that you enjoy this course, find texts that you connect with and come away feeling better prepared for college and its rigorous requirements. I look forward to our year together!
